Kingswood Motto

“FIDE ET VIRTUTE”

The motto of Kingswood is “FIDE ET VIRTUTE”. This motto was borrowed froma high class family in England named Gladston family “Fide” or faith/loyalty comes from the Latin “fidelitas” or “pietas”, a loyalty to the gods, the family and the country that is conventionally seen in the heroes of the classic. “Virtute” can loosely be translated as power of actions: a resonance of the manliness which is echoed in the Kingswood song. By “Virtute” the founding fathers would have meant the ability to act as “gentlemen”, a word which Blaze has insisted on in the referring to the boys of the school.
